  1. Refraction with Computerized Eye Testing:
Refraction is a key component of an eye examination that determines an individual's eyeglass or contact lens prescription. The optometrist uses a phoropter or retinoscope to assess how light bends as it enters the eyes, correcting any refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. Accurate refraction leads to clear and comfortable vision correction.
Computerized eye testing utilizes advanced technology to assess visual acuity, detect refractive errors, and evaluate eye health. It offers precise and efficient measurements, aiding optometrists in prescribing accurate eyeglasses or contact lenses. This modern approach enhances the accuracy of diagnoses and allows for timely detection of eye conditions, leading to better overall vision care and patient satisfaction.
  2. Management of Glaucoma (Investigation/Medical/Laser/Surgery):
Glaucoma investigations involve a series of tests to diagnose and monitor the progression of glaucoma. These tests may include measuring intraocular pressure, assessing optic nerve health, by conducting visual field tests and OCT. Early detection and ongoing glaucoma investigations are vital to implement timely treatment and preserve the patient's vision.
Glaucoma treatment encompasses various approaches like medical management, laser therapy, and surgical intervention. Medical treatment involves eye drops or oral medications to control intraocular pressure. Laser procedures, such as trabeculoplasty& Iridotomy, aim to improve fluid drainage. In severe cases, surgical options like trabeculectomy or shunt implantation help manage glaucoma and prevent vision loss effectively.
  3. Diagnostic Services & Eye Exams:
Diagnostic eye services offer comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision, detect eye disorders, and identify potential health issues. Skilled optometrists perform tests like visual acuity assessment, refraction, tonometry (eye pressure), and examination of the retina and optic nerve. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection of eye conditions, ensuring prompt treatment and optimal vision care.
  4. Preventive Eye Check-up:
A preventive eye check-up involves routine screenings to assess visual acuity, eye health, and overall ocular well-being. These proactive evaluations aid in early detection of eye problems like cataracts, glaucoma, or age-related macular degeneration. By addressing issues at an early stage, preventive check-ups promote visual wellness, reduce the risk of vision loss, and preserve eye function.
  5. Visual Fields (Perimetry):
Visual field testing, also known as perimetry, assesses the full extent of a person's field of vision. It helps identify any areas of peripheral vision loss, which may be indicative of glaucoma or neurological conditions. Regular visual fields tests are crucial for monitoring eye health and detecting changes in the visual field over time.
  6. Squint work up / Diplopia Charting:
A squint work-up involves evaluating strabismus, commonly known as a squint or crossed eyes. Through a comprehensive examination, the optometrist assesses eye alignment, muscle balance, and the presence of diplopia (double vision). Effective work-up and diplopia charting aid in determining the best treatment approach, which may involve glasses, eye exercises, or surgery.
  7. Color Vision:
Color vision assessments determine an individual's ability to perceive and distinguish different colors. Specialized tests, like the Ishihara test, help identify color vision deficiencies, such as red-green color blindness. Understanding color vision is essential, particularly for certain occupations, jobs, and can offer valuable insights into potential eye health issues.
  8. Retina Clinic:
A retina clinic is a specialized facility that focuses on diagnosing and treating various retinal disorders. Conditions like diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachments are addressed through investigations like Fluorescein angiography, Optical Coherence Tomography, Advanced Imaging, Laser Treatments, and Intraocular Injections. Early intervention and ongoing care at a retina clinic are essential for preserving sight and managing retinal diseases effectively.
  9. Management of Diabetic Retinopathy:
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness in people who have diabetes. Itis caused by damage to the blood vessels in the tissue at the back of the eye (retina). All diabetic patients should get their eyes examined on a regular basis. Diabetic retinopathy is detected during an eye examination that includes, Assessment of the visual acuity, Retinal (Fundus) examination, Intraocular Pressure, Fluorescein angiography to detect abnormality in retinal blood vessels, and OCT to detect swelling in retina.Diabetic retinopathy is usually treated with laser treatment and in some cases surgery. Newer treatments like Inj. IVTA, Inj. Avastin are now given in some cases prior to laser therapy or surgery as a part of the treatment.
